Community Engagement

OLSH is a vibrant, inclusive and hopeful community. We believe that people who are engaged in their community develop a sense of genuine belonging and connectedness. Therefore we encourage involvement and celebrate diversity by offering a great many opportunities for active participation and leadership across the social, sporting and service sectors.

We encourage young women to seek out and participate in those activities – be they sport, theatre or formal leadership positions – in which students can develop their potential. Staff and students also take time to work for social justice so that they recognise that they can make a difference within the wider community.

Consequently a priority for students, parents and staff is to engage with and for the community and to embrace the community with optimism and generosity.

Catholic School Parents South Australia (CSPSA) is a newly formed organisation which aims to promote and support parents and families by providing a voice for education and issues which affect their children.
CSPSA is an advocate for the families, parents and carers of children in Catholic schools, Catholic early learning centres and pre-schools.

The organisation believes that:

  • All children have the opportunity to access a quality education, allowing each child to reach his or her potential; and
  • School and family collaboration is essential to successful spiritual, academic and developmental growth.

CSPSA aims to build an environment where parents can be empowered to take an active role as the primary educators of their children. More information can be found on their website: www.cspsa.catholic.edu.au
