Dear Parents/Guardians, Students, Staff and Friends of OLSH College

Wednesday, 22 July we celebrated the feast day of Mary Magdalene who was given the title of ‘Apostle of the Apostles’. This title recognises her as the first witness to the Resurrection and the first person entrusted by Jesus to proclaim the Good News.

Mary Magdalene’s story is one of faith, courage, fidelity, and transformation. While others fled in fear, she remained steadfast at the foot of the Cross. In the darkness of Easter morning, she sought the Lord with unwavering hope and, through her encounter with the risen Christ, became a messenger of hope and new life to others.

As a Catholic girls’ school, we find in Mary Magdalene a powerful model of leadership and discipleship. Her example is exemplified in our OLSH Pillars of Education.

Mary Magdalene was a heart person who was faith-filled. Her relationship with Jesus shaped her life and gave her the courage to trust God’s call, even when the path ahead was uncertain. She reminds us that faith is not simply something we believe but something we live each day through our actions and choices.

She was a heart person who reverenced relationships. Mary Magdalene remained close to Jesus throughout His ministry, standing beside Him in moments of suffering and joy. Her witness teaches us the importance of nurturing relationships grounded in compassion, loyalty and love.

She was a heart person who pursued excellence. When entrusted with the mission of proclaiming the Resurrection, Mary Magdalene embraced her responsibility with conviction and purpose. She inspires us to use our gifts fully, strive to be our best selves, and respond generously to the opportunities and responsibilities before us.

Most importantly, she was a heart person who touched the hearts of others. Through her witness, courage, and proclamation of hope, she changed the lives of those around her. Her story reminds us that leadership is not about status or position but about the positive difference we make in the lives of others.

At OLSH College, we seek to form girls and young women who, like Mary Magdalene, are courageous in faith, guided by strong relationships, committed to excellence and dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the world. May her example inspire each of us to listen deeply to God’s call and to be women and men who bring hope, compassion and love to all whom we encounter.

NAPLAN results to be Issued early Term 3

National Assessment Program / Literacy & Numeracy (NAPLAN) results for individual students in Years 7 and 9 will be sent to parents/guardians in early Term 3. NAPLAN is not a pass or fail type of test. Individual student performance is measured using four proficiency levels of Exceeding, Strong, Developing, and Needs additional support.
