How does learning change in Years 11 and 12?

The focus shifts from exploration to purposeful decision-making, with students choosing learning pathways that align with their aspirations and future goals.

How does OLSH College support career planning and pathway exploration?
Planning for life beyond school begins well before graduation. Through a robust Careers and Pathways program, students are encouraged to explore their interests, discover their strengths and consider the many opportunities available to them after school. Students receive personalised guidance to help them make informed decisions about university, vocational education, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment pathways.
Students are supported to:

Our graduates pursue a diverse range of pathways. Recent graduates have progressed into medicine and health sciences, engineering, education, business, law, information technology, psychology and social sciences. In 2025, 98% of university offers were students’ top-preference courses, while in 2024, 94% of university offers were top-preference courses.
Every student’s pathway is different, and our goal is to help each young woman find the pathway that is right for her.
Can students complete VET while studying in Years 11 and 12?
Yes. Vocational Education and Training (VET) gives students the opportunity to gain industry-recognised qualifications while completing their senior studies. It is an excellent option for students who enjoy practical learning, want to explore specific careers or are considering employment, apprenticeships or further training after school.
Students may choose VET to:
- Gain practical, hands-on experience
- Develop workplace and industry-specific skills
- Explore potential career pathways
- Build confidence through real-world learning experiences
- Create pathways into apprenticeships, traineeships, further training or employment
More than 30% of the Class of 2025 completed a VET qualification alongside their SACE, gaining valuable future-focused skills before graduation. Students completed qualifications across areas including Allied Health, Early Childhood Education, Business, Individual Support, Information Technology, Beauty and Make-Up, Nail Technology and other industry pathways. Recent graduates have also completed qualifications in Legal Services, Make-Up and Allied Health.
VET is one of the many pathways available to OLSH College students, reflecting our belief that success looks different for every young woman.
