Year 11 and 12 Students Engage with Industry and Higher Education Experts
Throughout Term 2, our Year 11 and 12 students participated in a series of career information sessions as part of our Careers Program. These sessions were designed to help students explore a wide range of study and vocational pathways and to start thinking more confidently about their plans beyond OLSH College.
The girls heard from representatives across several industries and education providers, including Adelaide University, Flinders University and TAFE SA, who shared insights into university life, course options, and the skills students will need for future study.
They also heard from speakers from different training organisations and employers who shared real world insights into lots of different careers.
These sessions helped students broaden their understanding of what’s possible after school and encouraged them to reflect on their strengths, interests, and goals. Many students commented that hearing directly from universities and industry professionals made the decision making process feel exciting.
OLSH College Subject & Careers Expo

The journey beyond school is shaped by the choices students make today. Our Subject & Careers Expo provides an opportunity for students and families to explore future possibilities, ask questions and gain insights that can help inform decisions about learning, senior school pathways and life beyond OLSH College.
Subject Expo

Specialist teachers from each Learning Area will be available to discuss subject offerings and support students as they consider their subject selections for next year.
This is an opportunity to learn more about the subjects available through Years 9, 10, 11 and 12, understand where different options may lead, and make informed decisions about individual learning pathways.
Careers Expo
iLA, Common Room & Earhart (S06) | 6.00pm–8.00pm
Representatives from universities, TAFE, Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers and other post-school organisations and employers will be on hand to answer questions about further study, training and career opportunities.
Families are encouraged to explore the wide range of pathways available and gather information that may help shape their daughter’s next steps beyond OLSH College.
Important SACE Information Sessions
As students move through their secondary years, the decisions they make become increasingly connected to future opportunities.
These year-level specific information sessions are designed to help families understand the pathways available through the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), stay informed about key requirements and changes, and feel well equipped to support their daughter as she plans her next steps with confidence and clarity.
Current Year 11’s
Entering the Final Year of the SACE
Time: 6:10pm – 6:40pm
Location: Classroom SO2 & SO3 – downstairs in the Senior Campus
This brief information session provides an overview of important information that will help families understand the SACE, Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranks (ATAR) and support your daughter through the counselling process. It is strongly recommended that a family member attends this session due to keep up to date with the ongoing changes with SACE and how to be successful in Year 12.

SACE in the Senior Year

This information session provides an overview of important information that will help families understand the SACE and strategies for supporting your daughter through the subject counselling process.
We encourage all students and their families to take advantage of this opportunity to gather information, ask questions and explore the many pathways available both during and beyond school. No registration is required — simply come along, join the conversations and discover the possibilities that can help inform your daughter’s next steps.
University and TAFE Open Days
Open Days are a great way to explore future study options. Universities and TAFE campuses across South Australia welcome students and families to learn about courses, campus life and study pathways. Whether you’re considering further study, or are still undecided about your future plans, attending an Open Day can help you make informed decisions and discover opportunities you may not have previously considered.
From the 2 – 30 August, Adelaide University will host Open Days across its city, metropolitan, and regional campuses. Student and their families can expect campus tours, presentations, hands on activities, and opportunities to meet academic staff.
Flinders University will offer a mix of campus tours, taster days, and interactive presentations throughout August.

South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC) Applications for 2027
SATAC applications for 2027 open on Monday 3 August, which is an exciting time for our Year 12s as they start thinking about what life might look like after OLSH College. We encourage families to stay involved as students explore their options.
SATAC recommends students submit their undergraduate applications by 30 September. Applications submitted after this date will incur a higher processing fee, so early submission is recommended. TAFE SA applications continue to be free.
A few courses close earlier than others, so please make sure you check the SATAC Guide or the SATAC key dates page on the SATAC website to stay across any deadlines that might affect your daughter’s choices.
At the end of Term 2, all Year 12s received SATAC YouTube clips explaining the application process. We encouraged students to watch these with their families over the holidays, and many will also join the online Q&A sessions held throughout July for extra guidance.
In Week 3, students will begin putting their SATAC applications together during their Pastoral Care lesson. To make the most of this session, students should come prepared by watching the YouTube clips that were shared earlier.
