Where your passion becomes your pathway

In the senior years at OLSH College, students are supported to step confidently into their future, with a focus on connection, independence and purpose. Girls are encouraged to pursue their passions through a wide range of specialised SACE subjects, while developing the skills and confidence needed to succeed beyond school. With flexible learning, strong support and mentorship, all girls are empowered to make informed choices, build meaningful relationships and grow into resilient, capable young women ready to navigate an ever‑changing world.

A: “OLSH College has given me so many opportunities to explore what I love, especially through subjects like Dance and Outdoor Education, as well as a range of co-curricular activities. One of the things I value most is being able to gain SACE credits in Dance, which allows me to be recognised academically for something I am genuinely passionate about. The support and encouragement from teachers has also helped me to make the most of every opportunity and achieve great results.”

A: “To me, leadership is about serving others and creating opportunities for everyone to feel valued and included. A good leader leads with compassion, listens to others and helps bring out the best in those around them. As College Captain, I hope to be someone who is approachable, supportive and positive, while encouraging others to step outside their comfort zones and embrace all that OLSH College has to offer. I want every student to feel like they belong and are proud to be part of our OLSH community.”

A: “I aspire to work in the health and science field, particularly as a women’s health specialist. I have always been fascinated by the human body and the positive impact healthcare professionals can have on people’s lives. What motivates me most is the opportunity to help others and make a meaningful difference in their wellbeing. My parents also inspire me through their hard work, sacrifices and encouragement to always pursue my goals and believe in myself.”

“At OLSH College, I’ve been able to pursue my passion for dance as part of my SACE studies, and the subjects I’ve chosen have supported my academic success while keeping my options open for the future.”

How are students supported to choose subjects at OLSH College?

Students are supported throughout the subject selection process to ensure their choices align with their strengths, interests and future goals. Subject information sessions, the Subject and Careers Expo, individual subject counselling and Student-Parent-Teacher Conversations help families make informed decisions. Students are encouraged to explore pathways that support university, TAFE, employment or vocational learning while maintaining flexibility for future opportunities.

What careers education and pathway support is available to senior students?

OLSH College provides a range of opportunities to help students explore future pathways and make informed decisions about life after school. Through career counselling, pathway planning, industry connections, guest speakers, mentoring opportunities and careers events, students gain valuable insights into university, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment options. These experiences help students understand the pathways available and how they can pursue their interests and aspirations beyond school.

How does OLSH College support student wellbeing during the senior years?

Wellbeing is an important part of the senior years, particularly as students balance academic commitments, co-curricular involvement and planning for the future. Through positive relationships with teachers, Home Group teachers, pastoral care staff and mentors, students are encouraged to maintain balance, develop healthy habits and seek support when needed. OLSH College recognises that every student’s journey is different and provides guidance to support both wellbeing and learning. Students also have access to an on-site Student Counsellor, alongside a range of wellbeing programs, resources and support services throughout the school year.

Are Vocational Education and Training (VET) options available?

Vocational Education and Training (VET) provides students with the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications while completing their SACE. Depending on their interests and career goals, students may undertake VET courses in a range of industry areas, with some qualifications contributing towards both SACE completion and ATAR calculations. VET pathways allow students to develop practical skills, gain industry experience and explore future career opportunities while still at school.

What leadership opportunities are available in Years 11 and 12?

Students can contribute to College life through a range of leadership opportunities, including College Captain, Vice Captain, Arts Captain, Social Justice Captain, Sports Captain and House Captains. Senior students are encouraged to use their voice, represent their peers and contribute positively to the College community. Leadership extends beyond formal roles. Students have opportunities to participate in service initiatives, student representative groups, community projects, advocacy programs, mentoring experiences and leadership development activities. Many students also represent the College through external opportunities, such as student leadership forums, community engagement programs, creative projects, podcasting initiatives and events that connect them with the wider community. These experiences help students develop communication, collaboration, critical thinking and leadership skills, while building the confidence and capability to contribute to their communities both during and beyond their time at OLSH College.

How does learning in an all-girls environment benefit students?

OLSH College provides an environment designed specifically for girls, where students are encouraged to participate fully in every aspect of school life. In classrooms, leadership roles, co-curricular activities and subject choices, students are supported to develop their voice, pursue their interests and engage with a broad range of opportunities. An all-girls setting can also help students build strong peer connections and learn alongside other young women who support and encourage one another. Through positive relationships, leadership opportunities and a culture of participation, students are able to develop the skills, self-awareness and sense of purpose that prepare them for life beyond school.
